Saffron Cafe in Indianapolis

My wife and I got dinner here while staying the night in Indy. It was a very quiet and cozy place with a unique (for the midwest) menu full of Mediterranean dishes. The waiter was very professional and well versed in the menu items and how to serve them. The hummus platter and entrees were great along with the hot minty tea. Well worth the short walk there from our hotel.

Very cool place. Nice atmosphere. Very unique and great food. Not a quick bite. Service is slow but friendly.

I really liked this place a whole lot. Very well decorated, snug space great for intimate dining. Husband's bring the wife for date night. Ladies meet the girls for lunch. Come one come all!

Great food, the manager/waiter was very helpful in recommendations and the proper way to eat. Bread was warm and great to dip. Will be back for sure!

First time trying Moroccan food and this place did not disappoint! Amazing. Flavorful. The owner was very nice and attended well to the guests.

This place is delicious!!!! My boyfriend and I were going out for a date night and wanted to try something new. This was perfect. It is Moroccan food. I got the beef and lamb kabobs. So good. Would recommend and we will be going back.

The cafe was a perfect walk from Mass Ave which was a perfect walk from The Sheraton Downtown. We enjoyed the antipasto plate and the Cumin Chicken Tajine. The best part was the Moroccan wine selection, truly a treat. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere cozy, clean, and relaxing. I'd definitely go again. Thanks!

I love trying cuisines of different countries and this place is one of the best experiences I had in the US without actually flying abroad. The owner is super friendly and the place itself is just beautiful inside. Very cozy and homey. You must try one of their Tajines or couscous dishes. And baklava with some tea. Absolutely fantastic food. Finding parking wasn’t a problem and prices were slightly above average but it’s totally worth it. Would come back and recommend to friends.

Wow, not what I expected. The dining room is ornately decorated with relics that really take you away from Indy. The food is exceptional. Everything that I have had is amazingly prepared. The mint tea is amazing and served in piping hot tea pots unlike anything I have seen available locally. The Honey Lemonade though is worth the trip alone. I could suck down a gallon of that if they would let me. If you like Moroccan, Greek, or Mediterranean food, you have to go to this place! If it very quiet at lunch and the perfect time to go. Just get there before 2 because they close down before dinner.

The atmosphere is fine. The food wasn’t what was shown in the menu. The service was ok. I wasn’t a fan of the food that actually did come out.

Delicious Moroccan dishes with an eclectic atmosphere. Staff is so friendly and the owner/chef is on site.

A must visit place. Nice Moroccan touch to the flavors. Quite oily though. However contrary to their claim the Saffron flavor was missing. You may know that saffron is the king of spices and even a hint of it in the food is noticeable. And there was none. Long wait times though. Took almost 40 mins to get our dish. May be I will go back once again and try another dish. Worth trying.

A cute little place just off the Cultural Trail that has an extensive Moroccan/Mediterranean menu full of big-flavor dishes. The prices are very reasonable considering the portions and quality of the food. Our server was very kind and attentive, and the lighting was almost perfect. If you have an appreciation for appropriately dim restaurant lighting, you'll enjoy how low it is here. The only real issue I had was that there is only one speaker in the back near the kitchen. So if it's a slow night, it can feel a little too quiet. But all in all a fantastic spot!

Very atmospheric environment with a nice touch of the Moroccan culture. The staff was incredibly friendly and most importantly the food was amazing! I'm a big eater and boy does the food come large. Well worth the price. I would definitely recommend new comers to Indy or those who love to try different cuisines to tryout Saffron Cafe.

Absolutely amazing experience time and time again! The food is by far the best in Indy and always have an amazing customer service. I have been frequenting Saffron Cafe for years but took my dental team for our holiday party yesterday and everyone raved about Anne's warm personality and how delicious every meal was. Thank you so much for continuing to delivery quality food and service, can't wait until my next visit! If you are a foodie, having a date night, or just want to enjoy a relaxed meal definitely check them out!

Amazing food and amazing service. Try the mussels in the butter and whine sauce! My fiancee hates shellfish, but she loved it here. Awesome tea as well. Great atmosphere and the the servers will go above and beyond for you. I couldn't recommend this place or give it higher praises. 5/5. A+. AMAZING!!!

Excellent menu, friendly owners & family, wonderful experience! Make sure to try this location out if you want a great Near Eastern dining experience. Many traditional dishes on the menu, a few that are staples in many similar settings. Overall, you won't be disappointed; you will want to come back!

Loved the indoor ambience and food taste but the outdoor ambience and the overall look can definitely be improved. Also the waiting time for food delivery is very high.

Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Parking is bit weird right now (October 2019), may want to call ahead to figure out where you should park. Interior is cozy and welcoming. They have covered outdoor seating by the front door. Decor is very thematic. Prices are a little steep, depending on what you get. If you're worried that the food may be spicy it really isn't, most of the dishes are a blend of sweet and savory in different ways. They serve wine by the glass and bottle, and have a varying selection of beer.

It is a tiny restaurant with very little space for each table. The staff is nice. The food is average. The tea which is supposed to be hot was barely warm. The tiramisu dessert looked like it was smashed and tasted nothing like tiramisu.

I was just passing through on my way home from Chicago, and I chose this place by the Google reviews. Warm ambience. Delicious, authentic food. Sincere and excellent service. I will likely come here again next time I'm nearby. Parking nearby is limited, but I would happily walk a few minutes to dine here.

Good food. Opens at 4pm and that's when we arrived. Great service. Tried specialty drinks, appetizers, kababs and dessert. All good stuff. Alan has the fish kabab which looked delicious though he didn't offer a bite.

I love this restaurant! The Tanjine honey lamb is delicious. I also recommend the Tanjine lamberel.

Top Notch preparation!! Very polite staff...Saffron introduced me to the amazing flavours of Moroccan cuisine. The dish was very well made with an awesome blend of flavoured oil, herbs and spices..... I felt it was a mix of Arabic and Mediterranean food....

The food is fabulous, the staff is friendly. The ambience is lovely, and the owner is charming. We seriously love this place!

Ambiance was great and so was the food. We tried the Antipasto Plate, Chef Salad, both the Chicken and Vegetable soup and Kafta Kebab. All of it was fresh, aromatic and uniquely flavored. I've tried a lot of MENA regional cuisine and the Moroccan spices and chargrilling was different. A nice departure from what I'm used to. Great date spot.

I stumbled upon this place on accident. I was out of town on a cold 28 degree winter mid day looking for a cafe to warm up. This was not the cafe I expected but the woman at the counter treated me like family and even handed me creamy buttery tasting delicious coffee on the house. I highly recommend.

Drove 2 hours depending on OPEN indicated on Google. The worker coldly said they were closed then mentioned the days they are open which one of them was the day I was there. Unacceptable

Outstanding food! I ordered the ginger chicken tanjine and it was unlike anything else I've had recently. Came in right before close and they accommodated. Paulina was my server and we had a great conversation! Next time I'm in Indy I will surely come back.

Great flavors and atmosphere. The Couscous Royale was delicious, with perfectly charred vegetables and shrimp. Can’t wait to try the tagines. Also works for vegetarians and those who cannot handle heat (spice levels go from zero to 5). Totally worth the drive from Broad Ripple and the hassle to find parking.

I liked the decor very much. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us select some of our dishes. The falafel was a little dry, but tasted good. My Zaalouk was tasty, but I should have asked for a spicier version of it. My wife said her Tajine Lambarel was juicy and soft, though she too mentioned it needed some more spice in it. The highlight was definitely the baklava, which was perfect. We would surely be back to try some different dishes. 5 stars for the service and decor, 4 for the food.

Indianapolis gives way to a romantic and intimate setting in this restaurant. The pleasant staff accommodates you and the food is memorable (I still feel satisfied when thinking of my ahi tuna 😍).

Great food. If you like different kind of stews then Moroccan food has you covered. There aren't as many savory options as kinda-sweet options but both dishes I've had when I've been there were awesome

The food was a bit over priced. Not alot of lamb and full of fat. We used a groupon and the waitress gave herself a 20% tip and then told us it stated that on the groupon which it does not. She was fun but we will not be back!!

A small, cozy restaurant with an authentic atmosphere and food. Our dishes were rich and flavorful and provided plenty of food to fill us up. The staff were very friendly as well and were happy to welcome our one-year-old .

Oh, my!! What a special treat this was!! The atmosphere was so calm and inviting, the service was personable, dignified, and attentive, and the food was extraordinary! Our party of three each ordered different lunch meals, and not one of those us was disappointed. The soup was uniquely delicious, and the antipasto appetizer platter had us craving more! Their pita pieces were so soft and flavorful, and the different meats were a real flavor delight! Definitely a restaurant worth finding!

Best lamb and chicken i have eaten since i arrived to the US Good job will keep coming back again and again .Forgot to say the Staff was beyond Friendly and the place is extreemly clean ,cozy and comfortable

The atmosphere was like stepping into another culture, the lamb was tender and seasoned to perfection, and the husband and wife team that owns and operates the restaurant are a delight! My wife and I will be going back there to enjoy the experience again!
